Discounts & Coupons

Navigate to Marketing —> Coupons / Discounts from the home page of your admin area

Discount Type Description
Percent off a product Discount is applied as a percentage discount.
Percent off entire order Discount is applied as a percentage discount on the entire order.
Dollar amount off a product Discount is applied as a dollar amount discount. Multiplied per quantity.
Dollar amount off entire order Discount is applied as a dollar amount discount on the entire order.
Free Shipping off an entire order The order will not charge shipping

How to create Quantity Discounts:
  1. Set the discounts Name to something like: Quantity Discount
  2. Set the MinQty to your first price break. So if your price changes when 50 or more are ordered, then 50 would go into this field
  3. Set the MaxQty to end of the current price break.
  4. Set the DiscountType to Percent Off or Dollar Amount Off a product
  5. Set the DiscountValue to how much the discount is on this price break.
  6. Click Add + View New Record
  7. Repeat steps 1-6 and change the MinQty and MaxQty for each of your price breaks

Note: The discount name should be the same for all your price breaks. If you set up a new group of price breaks, then that group will have a different name.

If you have enabled 'option inventory control' for a product, make sure to specify the parent product code (so that the discount appears on the parent's product page) in the field named ApplyToProductCode(s) in Marketing —> Discounts/Coupons, as well as all of the child product codes (so that the discount is applied to the actual product placed in the shopping cart).

For example: Parent product code of PH60045 and children product codes might be PH60045-S, PH60045-M, and PH60045-L. Make sure to specify PH60045 in ApplyToProductCode(s) as well as all of the relevant child product codes.

To apply this set of Quantity Discounts to a product, do the following:

  • Navigate to Marketing —> Coupons / Discounts, click on the DiscountAutoID to edit it
  • Enter all of the product codes which should receive the discount in the ApplyToProductCode(s) field
How to create a coupon:
  1. Set the Coupon Code to anything you want
  2. Tell your customers what the coupon code is. They will be able to enter the Coupon Code on the shopping cart page during checkout to trigger the discount. For Example, to create a coupon for $5 off your order
  3. Set the discounts Name to $5 off your order
  4. Set the DiscountType to Per Order
  5. Set the DiscountValue to 5
  6. Set the Coupon Code to (for example, ABC123)

If creating a discount / coupon and the discount type is set to give either a percentage or dollar amount off the entire order, if you do not want the discount / coupon to apply to each product but only once, you need to enable the option Span (ie Buy 10 of any product). Otherwise the discount will apply to each product that is added to the cart.

How to create a discount or coupon for free shipping:
  1. Set the discount type to Free Shipping on ENTIRE ORDER
  2. Set the Coupon code to anything you want, or leave it blank if you wish the free shipping Discount to be applied automatically when specified conditions within your discount are met.
  3. Set the Discount Value to anything you want
  4. Then click ADD NEW

All the free shipping coupon does it add your store's Free Shipping option to the drop down of shipping choices. It does not affect the price of the products added to the order.

Note: You cannot combine two coupons and/or discounts that discount a percentage off the entire order.
